Reid Talks About Father's Suicide In Gun Debate

(Washington, DC)  --  Calling for a broadening of gun background checks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is recalling his father's suicide.  Reid said, quote, "Sometimes people, in a fit of passion, purchase a handgun to do bad things with it  --  even as my dad did  --  kill themselves."

The Nevada Democrat added, "Waiting a few days helps."  Meantime, Reid again criticized Republicans for vowing to block new gun legislation.  More than a dozen conservative Republicans are threatening to filibuster any gun measures and the number is expected to grow.
